The buildings of Barony St John Church and it’s hall are an iconic feature of the Ardrossan landscape.

Google “Ardrossan” photos and these buildings appear in almost all of them. Take the ferry back from Isle of Arran and the church silhouette can be seen on the shoreline miles before any other feature. Shaped like a rocket about to take off into space, this is where our journey begins….

Work on the church building started in April 1844 and the finished church opened its doors to the public in December of the same year. Only 8 months later!!??!! – surely a miracle when you consider the craftsmanship of the building.

The hall building was opened in 1887.

The Church of Scotland sold the buildings to me in December 2014 and I plan to donate the buildings to my charity, The Scottish Centre for Personal Safety, transforming the hall building into a Community Centre and the church building into an Events Centre.

The finished product will be The William Wallace Community & Events Centre.

Take a look at this short video and be inspired to help me inject new life into these wonderful old buildings.
